CCF donates $10,000 to local nonprofits

CONTRIBUTED A RTICLE

The Cuero Community Foundation recently awarded two $5,000 donations to local nonprofit organizations, presenting checks to the Boys & Girls Club of Cuero and the CAMAL House food pantry in support of their ongoing efforts to serve De-Witt County residents.

The donations reflect the Foundation’s mission to strengthen the community by supporting organizations that provide meaningful services and make a lasting impact. At the Cuero Community Foundation, the focus is not only on supporting donors, but also on helping local nonprofits further their mission. As a community foundation, it serves as a bridge that connects generous individuals with the causes they care about, working alongside charitable organizations to strengthen their work throughout DeWitt County and surrounding communities.

The Boys & Girls Club of Cuero received a $5,000 donation to support its youth programs and services. Annemarie Leslie, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Cuero, said the contribution will help the organization continue providing a safe, positive environment for local youth. “This donation means a great deal to our club and the families we serve,” Leslie said. “Support like this allows us to enhance our programs, reach more children, and continue making a meaningful difference in their lives. We are incredibly grateful for the Cuero Community Foundation’s commitment to investing in our community’s youth.”

CAMAL House food pantry also received a $5,000 donation, which will provide more than a month’s worth of food to support its ongoing efforts to serve individuals and families throughout DeWitt County. Emily Halbert, executive director of CAMAL House, said the donation will help sustain the organization’s food distribution efforts and meet the growing needs of the community. “We are serving about 500 households a month, which is about 1,100 residents in DeWitt County,” Halbert said. “We are very grateful for this donation as well as others that have donated time or money to help us make a difference for so many people.” She noted that CAMAL House is able to purchase a truckload of food for approximately $4,000, providing about 12,000 pounds of food—enough to feed roughly 1,100 people for a month.

The Cuero Community Foundation was established to promote, build and manage permanent endowments that support charitable, educational and community- focused initiatives. Through grants, scholarships and partnerships, the Foundation works collaboratively with local nonprofits to identify needs and direct resources where they can have the greatest impact, emphasizing cooperation rather than competition among organizations.
