Westhoff Grand Opening
The grand opening of the old Home State Bank building in Westhoff, renovated by the late Deborah Boros, is set for Thursday, Sept. 5, from noon to 7 p.m. at 15 Houston Avenue. Now the home of BrandX Land & Ranch as well as Bar-Hil Ranches, a come-and-go reception will showcase the indelible style of Deborah. Refreshments will be offered as well as hourly “swag” drawings for those who “like” BrandX on Facebook.
Democratic Women’s Meeting

Grief Share Program
The Grief Share Program is being offered here in Yorktown at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. The Fall Sessions will begin on Tuesday, September 3, and be held each Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. through November 12. Hunter Education Class

A Day in The Country
On Saturday, Sept. 14, Weesatche 4 Warriors is honoring active duty military, veterans, wounded warriors, first responders and families in memory of lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001. The event starts with a 10 a.m. opening ceremony and continues with a chuck wagon lunch, family fun activities and live entertainment until 2 p.m. at the Weesatche Community Center, 161 E. FM 884, in Goliad.
Bake Sale for Veterans
On Saturday, September 14th, the Weesatche Hermann Sons will hold a bake sale at the Weesatche 4 Warriors Event held at the Weesatche Community Center beginning at 10 AM. All proceeds will benefit local veteran and first responder groups. In addition, the home office of Hermann Sons Life will provide matching funds. All are invited to come enjoy a fun day in the country and help us honor our military, veterans, and first responders.

Fall Sausage Feast
The Lindenau Rifle Club’s Annual Fall Sausage Feast will be held Sunday, Sept. 15, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Presale tickets are only $15 each. The Yorktown Bicentennial Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will join the DeWitt County Historical Commission in their annual presentation of Lives Remembered. Fajita Plate Fundraiser Yorktown’s Cameron Masonic Lodge will have a Fajita Plate Fundraiser on Monday, September 30th from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Plates will be $14 and to go only. The Masons are partnering with Werners out of Shiner to provide plates consisting of beef/chicken fajitas, rice, beans and tortillas. The community’s support is and always has been appreciated. EMS 35 Year Celebration
Yorktown EMS is proud to be celebrating 35 years of serving our community and surrounding areas. To celebrate this honor, plans are underway for a Family Fun Filled Day on Saturday, November 9, starting at 4 p.m. at Yorktown Community Hall. Activities of the day include a bounce house for the kids, putt putt golf, a cornhole tournament, silent auction, and BBQ plates. Child Find Evaluations
School districts must ensure that a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) is provided for children who are identified as needing special education and related services. Child Find is a process to identify, locate, and evaluate individuals from birth to 21 years of age who may need special education and related services. Evaluations for Cuero, Meyersville, Nursery and Westhoff ISD’s are available through Child Find. Early childhood intervention programs serve children with developmental delays and their families.
