The annual Victoria County Master Gardener Association Meet and Greet Social to be held Saturday, Jan. 31, 10 a.m. to noon, is one of the most important annual events of each VCMGA calendar year.
As always, gardeners from Victoria and surrounding counties have a special invitation to attend the social at Victoria Educational Gardens Pavilion, 283 Bachelors Dr. VEG is located across from the Victoria County Regional Airport control tower.
Designed to provide information on the non-profit organization and the upcoming 2026 training class, the informal event will be conducted on a come and go basis from 10 a.m. until noon. VCMGA volunteers will staff information tables to field questions on the organization’s many activities, including the VCMGA greenhouse operations, the popular Lunch and Learn with the Masters’ Program, the requirements for becoming a Master Gardener, the Victoria Educational Gardens, the Summer Kids Camp, and of course, the training class.
No admission will be charged for the meet and greet, but registration applications will be available. Payment will be taken but not required until orientation day which will be held Thursday, Feb. 5., 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the pavilion.
Light refreshments, cookies and egg-sausage muffins will be served, according to Jennia Pritchett of Cuero, who is in charge of the 2026 training class.
VCMGA is a nonprofit organization sponsored by the Victoria County Texas A&M University AgriLife Extension Service. Its mission is to encourage the love of gardening and to provide instruction on proven horticultural practices.
