Racing engines, roaring horsepower and community spirit will take center stage as Tarmac Takeover returns to Cuero for a two-day motorsports event celebrating performance, competition and familyfriendly fun.
The event kicks off Friday, Jan. 30, with Dyno Day at Cuero Municipal Park, running from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Drivers will have the opportunity to put their vehicles on the dynamometer, where horsepower and torque are measured under load. The experience allows participants to see real performance numbers, while spectators get an up-close look—and sound—of high-performance engines in action.
Action continues Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Cuero Municipal Airport from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. with the No Prep Race and Show N Shine. No Prep racing is a style of drag racing that takes place on an untreated surface, shifting the focus to driver skill, vehicle setup and control rather than track preparation. The format delivers fast-paced, unpredictable racing in a safe and organized environment.
Saturday’s events also include the Show N Shine, where participants display their vehicles for spectators to walk through and enjoy a wide variety of builds, from daily drivers to high-powered race machines.
Both days will feature vendors, food trucks and activities designed to make Tarmac Takeover a welcoming, familyfriendly event for motorsports fans of all ages.
This year marks the 7th annual Dyno Day, which began as a small open house at Wamsley Performance, owned by Allyson and Jeremy Wamsley. What started as a way to invite customers and friends into the shop quickly grew in popularity. As attendance increased, the event moved to Cuero Municipal Park in 2023 to better accommodate the growing crowd.
With that growth— and Jeremy Wamsley’s passion for racing—the addition of a No Prep race came naturally, helping shape what is now known as Tarmac Takeover.
“One thing that has always been very important to us is keeping the event free for spectators,” said Allyson Wamsley. “This event is our way of giving back to the community that has always shown up and supported what we do. To make that possible, we rely heavily on our sponsors. We are incredibly thankful for the support from businesses both local and from across the country who come together for the shared love of motorsports.”
Organizers also emphasized the importance of the diesel performance community, whose members donate time, equipment and resources to help make the event possible each year.
“At its core, Tarmac Takeover is about community, passion and bringing people together around motorsports in a way that’s accessible to everyone,” Wamsley said.
