My fellow Cueroites: In currently preparing the City for the upcoming Winter storm expected this weekend into early next week, city staff, County Emergency Management and the Texas Department of Emergency Management are coordinating preparations and staging equipment and supplies.
On Dec. 20, the city broke ground for the Skate Park for our youth and later in the afternoon a historical marker was unveiled honoring the works of Eugene A, Daule, known as “Professor Daule,” who inspired the African American students of Cuero.
The Mayor’s Youth Council toured Studio built by Amherst and learned how the company builds its modular homes from plans to completion. The tour ended at one of the onsite model homes, and two of the kids were ready to buy a home.
On Dec. 21, the Chamber of Commerce State of the City luncheon was held. Attendees received presentations on 2025 successes and current ongoing projects. State Representative AJ Louderback was physically present and representatives from Senator Lios Kolkhurst and U.S .Representative Michael Cloud were in attendance. I am so proud of the accomplishments achieved last year by the city, the hard work from the Chamber of Commerce, the Cuero Development Corporation, the Main Street office and the City’s efforts are paying huge dividends for the betterment of Cuero.
The Cuero Gobbler Baseball season starts soon, please come out and support the teams. I have officially filed for reelection as your mayor, and in addition two council seats are up for election this year. Filing ends on February 13. If interested come by City Hall and see the City Secretary.
The Citizens Police Academy is still accepting applications, I invite you to come by a class and see if it’s right for you.
Please stay warm, take precautions to ensure your safety, if your home is natural gas supplied, an investment in a carbon monoxide monitor might be a good idea. Be careful when employing space heaters and check on your loved ones frequently. People, pets, plants and pipes should be the buzz words, take care of them.
