The Goliad Scramble Golf Tournament on January 28, at Riverside Golf Course, brought together strong competition from across the region, showcasing impressive talent on the course. Cuero had a solid showing, with the Cuero Gobblers finishing in 4th place overall. The Lady Gobblers also delivered an outstanding performance, earning 3rd place in the tournament.
With the 10-team competition, the Cuero Gobblers came out strong, securing a commendable 4th place finish as a team. Their dedication to the sport was evident in their performance, demonstrating patience and strategy throughout the tournament. Each member played their part to contribute to a solid overall score, embodying the spirit of teamwork that celebrates golf as both an individual and a collaborative sport. Braxton Bayfus brought home the silver medal, with a score of 84, just 3 strokes behind the leader.
The highlight of the day, however, came from the Lady Gobblers, who finished in 3rd place. Individually, several athletes shone brightly among the competition. Standout golfer was Jewelee Arriaga and Julia Aleman, who also earned 2nd and 3rd place medals, respectively. Their performances not only highlighted their individual capabilities but also emphasized the depth of talent within the Lady Gobbler team. Both Arriaga and Aleman displayed remarkable consistency and focus while tackling the course’s challenges, making their achievements commendable.
Up next for the golf team is the Industrial Tournament on February 11 held at Victoria Riverside Golf Course.
