Hello my fellow Cueroites What an amazing weekend for car enthusiasts, the DYNO run on Friday, January 30, under the park pavilion and motor racing at the Cuero airport, on Saturday January 31st, in total over 2000 spectators was estimated at both events combined, with 70% being out of town visitors. Many great vehicles were displayed and participated at both events. Shout out to Wamsley Performance (Allison and Jeremy) for putting the event together, safety was paramount and there were no incidents to report. Shout out to our Cuero full time Fire Department and Volunteer Firefighters for standing at the ready should the need for first aid response was necessary, Billy Jordan, Dewitt County Emergency Management was also on hand all day on Saturday monitoring the activities, thank you Billy. In addition, members of the Cuero Police department were monitoring the event as well. On Fr day January 23rd, a ground breaking for Phase 1 of the Daule School renovation was held, many thanks to Ms. Viola Holman and Mr. Paul Harper for their efforts in making the renovation a reality, once the renovations are completed, the Daule School, which has a rich history in Cuero, will be a focal point for many activities for young and old. On Monday January 26, City Manager Wayne Berger, as well as representatives from the Cuero Fire and Volunteer Fire Departments attended Commissioners Court to inform the court the current status of both departments and concerns over continuing fire responses outside the city limits in the future. The first of many meetings for the 4th Citizens Police Academy took place at the Cuero Park Clubhouse, on Tuesday January 27. Currently the class has eight attendees, however it is not too late to apply at the Police Department if you are interested. The week of January 25-31 was Catholic Schools week; I read a proclamation honoring Catholic Schools week and St. Michael’s Catholic School on Weds January 28 at the 8:00 am mass. On Thursday January 29th, members of the Cuero Fire and Police Departments, the City of Cuero Electric Department and staff from County Precinct #1 attended vocation day at St. Michael’s school, each department gave the students a short synopsis of what they do, the students were allowed to see the vehicles: Fire truck, Police vehicle, Bucket truck and a front end loader, first hand. Each presenter was given a blessed St. Michael’s (The patron Saint of 1st responders) medallion, Father Caleb blessed and recited a prayer over the group and their vehicles. There is still time to file for city council positions up for election, the deadline is Friday, February 13, 2026 at 5:00 pm. The next regular City Council meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 9, 2026 at 5:00 pm in Council chambers located in City Hall. Meeting agenda for the meeting is posted on the bulletin board located outside of City Hall or on the City of Cuero government website. Have a wonderful week. More to follow!!!
