GOD first...Heavenly Father, it is foolish to think we can hide our sins from You and yet we continue to make them without a second thought. Our sins have a way of betraying us even when we forget what we were taught. Lord, we are weak and can’t avoid sin no matter how much we try. We only ask for Your mercy through Your Amazing Grace. Give us strength to fight our sinful ways as we ask in the name of our Dear Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.Pray for those who are ill, suffering, grieving, or are in harms way. **Three boys, ages of 5, 7, & 8 years old, go to a grocery store with money they made from collecting and selling aluminum cans. They go to the checkout counter and give their purchases of three chocolate bars and a box of tampons to the clerk. The clerk asks the oldest boy why he is buying the tampons. He says, “Oh, they’re not for me. They’re for Billy here. We saw on TV a commercial that if you wear them you can swim and ride a bike and Billy can’t do either one.”

The cold weather in Nordheim didn’t phase those who prepared for the Nordheim FFA Stock Show as students braved the cold and some stayed Friday night after attending Parents Night Boys and Girls Basketball Game with the Runge High Team which was a district game. The game on Friday night was dedicated to parents, of girl and boys basketball players, who sacrificed and supported their games throughout the season. Awarding their parents during the girls team against Runge girls, they out scoured Runge by a score of 31 to23 points. The boys team did the same by a score of 79 to 40 points. I still enjoyed the game even though I was let into the game as grandparents got in free. I couldn’t complain, graduating from Runge High, but I’m a Nordheimer now. The next game will be against Runge @ Runge with both girls and boys going at it again. Plan to go there at 5pm on February 2nd, to show my support for both teams.

Went to the Nordheim FFA Stock Show Saturday. Not being any kin to any Eskimos, I went there at 9am expecting to see a crowd but was met by cold bitter wind. But there was a few brave soles in the bleachers, brave souls, who showed their support for the judging of the animals. My warm easy chair was calling me back home and pneumonia was breathing down my neck. I did get back at 1pm and got the results of the Grand Champion and Reserve Champions of the animals and they are as follows: Grand Champions’ first: Elizabeth Guinn, a 10th grader, swine. Tessa Garcia, a 6th grader, lamb. Kye Garcia, a 4th grader, goat. Bryce Tessmann, 12 grader, steer.

Reserve Champion list: Molly Gaus, 8th grader, swine. Tessa Garcia, 6th grader, lamb.Kye Garcia, 4th grader, goat. Elizabeth Guinn, 10th grader, steer.

Grand Champion Food was won by Molly Gaus with her pecan pie.Grand champion Craft was won by Layne Wisian with his Mesquite table. Grand Champion Art was won by Grahm Wisian with his drawing.Reserv Champion food was won by Nicholas Villarreal Jr. with his White Chocolate Fudge.Reserve Grand Champion Craft by Abigail Gaus with her Rope Bowl.Aayanna Castillo, Reserve Champion, Art Drawing.

Poster Coloring Contest (not for sale) will go to the Nordheim Fire Department and sent in to district for entry to the Fire Prevention Week.

The Total Sales of this years’ event brought over $200, 000. Auctioneer Gary Jarzombek did a wonderful job getting the contestants top dollar for all the entrants in the Show. It takes a Community and Supporters of Nordheim FFA Stock Show to award students within Nordheim ISD an excellent chance to show their talents and showmanship with a hard work ethic. A total of 23 Belt Buckles were handed out to winners by individuals and companies in added awards. It took a lot of volunteers and various administrators to put on 2026 FFA Stock Show and make it such a great success and it all came together this week. Everyone gets a big High Five for one of the best Shows around. See you next week.
