Westhoff American Legion Post honors longtime member

Westhoff American Legion Post honors longtime member
Westhoff American Legion Auxiliary members, left to right, Melinda Weikel, Sue Hilbrich, Cindy Burnett, Natalie Carson, and Terri Boothe congratulate Sue Hilbrich on her 70 years of membership.

Mueller Schaffner Post #369 of Westhoff held its regular meeting Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. at the post home. Denis Mueller prepared stew for those in attendance.

During the meeting, members discussed selecting a local high school junior to attend Texas Boys State in Austin in June 2026. Membership and dues were also addressed, with members encouraged to recruit potential members across all three levels — veterans, Sons of The American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary — including juniorage members.

Future hall rentals were discussed, with pricing set to remain at $400 per rental. Members also talked about activities planned in connection with the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary and were encouraged to locate photographs of past veterans from the Westhoff area to be displayed in the Legion hall.

Sue Hilbrich was recognized for 70 years of dedicated membership to the post. Hilbrich joined as a junior member in 1956 and has served the organization in various roles over the decades. Members expressed appreciation for her knowledge and service, and she will continue in her role as unit secretary.

Those interested in membership are asked to contact Terri Boothe at 361275-4852. The next regular meeting is scheduled for April 27, 2026.
