Students at St. Michael’s Catholic School spent part of Catholic Schools Week learning about vocations and public service during a special campus event that brought together clergy and local officials.
The school welcomed Mayor Emil Garza, who visited campus with representatives from several city and county departments. Students met police officers, firefighters, linemen and members of local road and bridge crews, getting an up-close look at the tools and equipment they use in their daily work, including a dozer and specialized surveying equipment.
As part of the celebration, students dressed as what they want to be when they grow up.
Garza, who is a St. Michael’s alumnus, also attended Mass at the school, where he read a proclamation declaring Catholic Schools Week.
School officials thanked the city of Cuero and all participants for helping make the vocation-focused celebration a meaningful experience for students.
