Hello my fellow Cueroites: Beautiful weather recently in stark contrast to the cold weather. Spring will be here soon.
Cuero received a few visitors this past week who are potential employers in the future. I was informed the fourth Citizens Police academy grew by two more participants for a total of 10 students. Thank you for supporting the program. The future skate park is moving along rapidly and should be complete by early summer.
The Cuero Gobbler baseball season has begun with a scrimmage game this past Friday. The game was played in the newly renovated Cuero Gobbler Baseball field. Please come out and support the high school players. The first home game will be played on March 24. This year marks 80 years of baseball in Cuero. A few activities to include video presentations, player representation, young and old alike and a proclamation are currently in the works.
Plans are in the early stages for a spectacular 250th anniversary celebration for this nation on July 4.
Voting starts soon so please exercise your right to vote and let your voice be heard. Filing for mayor and two district council positions is still open until Friday, Feb. 13 at 5:00 p.m.
Due to the extreme drought conditions in the area, please be careful with ignition sources.
There have been a few safety concerns voiced concerning drop off and pick up of students in the Hunt Elementary area. Streets in the adjacent housing area are narrow and at times have vehicles parked in front. One accident has recently been reported. Please give yourself enough time to safely arrive on time. Keep in mind, the early morning commute may have the rising sun in your eyes.
Have an awesome week, more to follow!
