To the Editor: We would like to express our family’s deepest gratitude to the firefighters, first responders, and community members who worked tirelessly to contain the February 6th fire on Zengerle Rd.
Special thank you to: Thomaston VFD, Cuero FD, Yorktown VFD, Nursery VFD, Yoakum VFD, Westhoff VFD, Victoria FD, Fordtran VFD, Cuero Regional Hospital EMS, De-Witt Co. Sheriff Dept, Texas A&M Forest Service, Texas Division of Emergency Management, Billy Jordan, Toby Frederick, John Smith, Buzz Jacoby & Kevin Jones for their relentless efforts These men and women showed extraordinary courage, skill, and dedication under incredibly difficult conditions for over 7 hours. Without their swift action and persistent efforts, the outcome would have been very different. That is not something we will ever take for granted.
The sense of unity and compassion we witnessed was truly moving and reminded us how fortunate we are to live in such a close knit, caring community.
No words can fully capture our appreciation for those who put themselves in harm’s way to protect others. Please know that your hard work, sacrifice, and commitment did not go unnoticed.
