Lucky Hearts Bingo 

A BYOB Dinner with Bingo to follow will benefit the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund at the DeWitt Veterans Center on Highway 72 Friday, Feb.20, at 5 p.m. Admission is $45 per individual or $350 for a table of eight.

Cook from the Heart Recipe Contest 

Cuero Regional Hospital invites the community to participate in its “Cook from the Heart” Community Recipe Contest, promoting hearthealthy choices during February. The contest runs Feb. 1–20 and is open to all. Recipes may be entered online, with prizes awarded in three categories: Main Dish, Snack, and Dessert. Designer Purse Bingo

Let’s Get Freaky for Designer Purse Bingo will be held at Ann Friar Thomas Homemaking Building Friday, Feb. 20, at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. Reserved table for eight for $500 or individual tickets $50 each. 501 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

5th Annual Lace-up for Lifeway School 

The 5th Annual Laceup for Lifeway School Half Marathon 5K will be held Saturday, Feb. 21, at 7:45 a.m. It starts and finishes at the school. There will be cash prizes for the top three male and female overall winners. Proceeds benefit the school. 403 E. Sarah St. in Cuero.

Meyersville VFW Stew Fundraiser 

The Meyersville Volunteer Fire Department will be holding its annual stew fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 21 from 11am to 12:30pm at the fire station. The price is $15 for a quart. Tickets may be purchased at Meyersville Store or at the event. 

Cuero Health Blue Jean Drive 

Cuero Health is hosting a Blue Jean Drive benefiting Cuero Independent School District students in need to help ensure local children have access to essential clothing. The drive will run Feb. 1-28, with collection bins located at the Cuero Regional Hospital Main Lobby and the Cuero Medical Clinic entrance. New and gently used jeans (all sizes, youth through adult) are being accepted and donated items must be free of holes. Cuero Health invites employees, patients, and community members to participate and show their love through giving back. 

Cuero Horse Show 

Cuero Livestock Show will present a horse show at the Cuero Rodeo Arena Saturday, Feb. 28, at 11 a.m. It is sponsored by the Cowboy Up 4-H Club and is open to the public. 

Piano Gold Medalist Aristo Sham  Performance 

Victoria will take center stage in the classical music world as it welcomes Aristo Sham, the 2025 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition Gold Medalist, for a landmark all-Beethoven concert at the Victoria Fine Arts Center Friday, Feb. 28, at 7:30 p.m. 

Camp Connect 

Camp Connect, a mallwide event that brings local summer camps and families together to kick off planning for a fun and enriching summer, will take place at Victoria Mall March 7. It is designed to help families explore camp options while giving local programs a chance to connect directly with the community. Families can browse a variety of camp programs throughout the mall, from sports and arts and crafts to educational and enrichment experiences. The event creates an easy, interactive way for parents and kids to meet camp staff, ask questions, and discover new opportunities for the summer ahead. Women Making History 

League of Women Voters of South Central Texas will be presenting “courageous, determined, persistent and visionary women” living in the area at the March 8 Women Making History Celebration. 

Grief Share

Yorktown Citizen and Volunteer of the Year Nominations Open 

Yorktown Citizen of the Year and Yorktown Volunteer of the Year nominations are now open. Nominations must be submitted by March 11. Lindenau Rifle Club Annual Chicken BBQ 

The BBQ benefit will be held Sunday, March 15, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. by presale tickets only. They are $15 and the meal consists of:.½ BBQ chicken, German Potatoes, Stuffed Cabbage, Pinto Beans, and BBQ sauce. Tickets can be purchased at Security Storage, the DeWitt County Co-op, Anders Auto Supply or you can call Janis at 361-275-4777. Proceeds are used for the preservation of the old dance hall. The last day to purchase tickets is March 13 at noon. New members welcome! 

Catholic Daughters #347 Scholarship  Applications 

The due date for St. Micahel’s Catholic Daughters’ Scholarships due date has changed to March 13. Catholic seniors at St. Michel’s, Our Lady of Guadalupe and Meyersville, please make note of the change. 

Citywide Garage Sale 

Dowtown Cuero Main Street will host a citywide garage sale Saturday and Sunday, March 13-14. Residents will conduct garage sales at their homes, and there will be individuals selling Under the Library Pavilion on Saturday, March 13, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. City permits are waived for the event, and it will not count against the number of garage sales allowed per year. Register in person at the Main Street office. 

Shiner Heritage Quilters ‘Spring  into Quilting‘

 Calling all quilters. Shiner Heritage Quilters invites you to participate in the 2026 show, “Spring into Quilting” scheduled for Friday and Saturday, March 20-21, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Shiner KC Hall, 122 S. Ave. G, in Shiner, which is a new location for the show. Entry forms and general instructions can be downloaded at www.shinerheritagequilters.org, or call Darcy Curtin at 361-427- 3177. You can also pick up forms at The Square Quilter, 807 N. Ave. D in Shiner. Entry forms postmarked on or before Friday, Feb. 6, will be accepted. 

Yorktown Western  Days Association Scholarships 

The Yorktown Western Days Association is excited to announce that applications are now open for sponsorship opportunities for graduating seniors at Yorktown and Nordheim High Schools.until April 16. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to receive support as they take the next step toward their future. Interested seniors may pick up application information from their school counselors. The Western Days Association is proud to invest in the success of our local youth and to give back to the community through this means. These scholarships are made possible through the generous support of our community and the continued success of Western Days events. Together, we are helping build a brighter future for the next generation. 

Library/Crown Hospice Senior Social Hour 

Crown Hospice is holding a Senior Social Hour at the Yorktown Public Library on the 1st Monday of every month. The social hour begins at 10 a.m. and is open to the public. Bingo, prizes and snacks are all provided free of charge. The hosts look forward to you attending. 

AA Meetings 

AA meets every Monday and Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Cuero Public Library.
