Playing in front of a supportive crowd from Cuero, the Lady Gobblers battled early but struggled to keep pace with a faststarting Fredericksburg squad that capitalized on turnovers and second-chance opportunities.
Despite the deficit, Cuero continued to compete with Elena Gomez leading the way offensively, finishing with 10 points and providing energy on both ends of the court. Bailey Staten followed with 7 points, knocking down key shots and helping the Lady Gobblers maintain composure through a difficult stretch.
Defensively, Cuero showed flashes of resilience, forcing several stops and hustling for loose balls, but Fredericksburg’s depth and shooting proved too much over four quarters. The loss closes the Lady Gobblers’ postseason run, but it also highlights a year of growth, teamwork, and perseverance.
With key contributors returning and valuable playoff experience gained, Cuero looks poised to build on this season’s success and return stronger next year. Head Coach Amy Crain praised the team’s effort and thanked fans for unwavering support throughout the season.
