GOD first...Lord
GOD first...Lord, when we burden ourselves with problems that we have no control over, we are so concerned with “What if” problems and most of the time, nothing really happens. Lord, help us to take control of the things we can do something about and forget those other things. If we put our minds to it, we can do so many things. There are so many people out there that need our help. Lead us in that direction, Lord. We need to share the many blessings You continually give us. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

The Nordheim Boys Basketball game, with Jarret Boys at the Bharma Stadium in Hallettsville last Tuesday night, was a nail-biter from the first second of the game. It seemed that Nordheim would be out classed as the Jarrret team scored 11 points before Nordheim scored 2 points. But the Nordheim boys started to play defensive on the Jarret end and by the half, and Nordheim was only two points behind. As both teams returned for the second half, Nordheim tied the game with 2 points to even the score, All during the third quarter of play, Nordheim scored ten points and was ahead. But the last quarter, it became a different ball game. The Jarret team fought back and out played the Nordheim team as Nordheim started making mistakes and one Jarred player went up for a layup and fell to the floor and Nordheim was called for a foul by one of the refferes. Could say a few words about the officiating after all is said and done, but it would only sound like sour grapes. The game ended with a thrilling end as the Nordheim team had the chance to tie the game, but time ran out with the Jarret team having 51 points and Nordheim had 48. Those that attended the game were proud of their team as the Nordheim Boys came to show the Jarret team that they weren’t quitting and really out played them on the defensive end the whole game. You all played one hell-of-a game!

Joke: On their first date, this young man was thinking how good he was at seducing the many girls he had dated before. With his looks and gifted smile, he knew no gal could resist his charms. While driving his latest challenge home, he asked her if she wanted to stop for a while at Lovers’s Lane. She was willing. On the way he said, “You’re really beautiful.”
She said, “Thanks. He said, “I never saw such pretty hair.” She said, “Thank you.” He added, “Your eyes are deep lagoons.” She replied, “Thank you.” He said, “Your lips are as red as berries and your teeth glisten like the sun.” She answered, “Thank you, but tell me one thing.” He asked, “Yes, my angel?” She answered, “Can you drive with one hand?” He said, “Hmmmmm. Sure I can.” She said, “Good, Wipe your nose, it’s running” News from the past: February 7, 2001: Heard that our Nordheim School Superintendent, Peter Running, is out of the hospital after serious bout with internal bleeding.
Remember in your prayers: Taylor Hodge, Della Evens, Mary Pascal, Bernice Wagner, Edmund and Mildred Mueller, Frances Pargmann, Hellen Heer, and those you know of. Brings back memories of people we once knew and some of those still with us.
Last month, we started playing dominoes on Tuesday, Feb. 10 and enjoyed it so much, we will be having another gameday on Monday, the 9th of March starting at 11 a.m. We’ve got plenty of dominoes, so if you don’t have anything else to do and want to play, come to the Lutheran Parish Hall.
Kaffee Klatch was the site of some 16 attendees that had a lot to say. Some mentioned about the ball game the night before and everyone agreed that Nordheim Basketball Boys gave Jarret Boys a run for their money, so to speak. Janice brought up the research that Frieda Huck had compiled that anyone can get online as she kept track of mostly all of the Nordheim history and names of a lot of the first settlers. I think it’s in the Victoria Library.com. I’ll check on it later. See you next week.e
