So many times, in today’s world we are seeing and meeting people that will tell us how much faith they have. This is always great to hear, however when we see them in a different location or in another situation their faith in God and personal actions seem to have diminished.
All of us that attend church will see our friends and neighbors that come and enjoy the fellowship that we have. We share with each other about our good times and about the good deeds either we have done and have seen others do. It gives each of us a good feeling and it builds our relationship with them.
However, when we are away from our church gatherings and see people in a different setting, we may think that what we saw on Sunday was just a show for others. Our workplaces or our leisure sites seem to have a different meaning from what we did or said to others on Sunday. All of us have done this. Even though we trust in the Lord as our Savior, we do not acknowledge it in front of a person or crowd during the week because we fear being ridiculed. Our actions and language change to benefit the world instead of building up and praising the name of Jesus. We need to remember what the great Billy Graham once said, “Our faith becomes stronger as we express it; a growing faith is a sharing faith.”
I might add to this by saying that our faith is shared by the way we live. It is hard for us to be taken seriously about the love and saving grace of Jesus if we do not express it through our everyday actions and speech.
We are in a world controlled by Satan and our only hope for an eternal home is through our faith in Jesus Christ. We are told in in 1 Corinthians 10:31; “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
The world is very enticing and wants us to follow its rules and give into its attractions. The world is sinful and a trap for unsuspecting or weak believers. There are many that are doing the work of Satan and telling you that Jesus is just a myth, and He had no eternal life to promise. Everyone should read the story of Noah and the Ark and then look around you to see if we have patterned ourselves after those people who were left out of the Ark. Their faith in the Lord God was weak and the pleasures, they were enjoying on earth, were too much to give up.
Our faith in God should never waver. We should be excited about the possibilities that lay before us in sharing the word of God. Remember what Dwight L. Moody told us; “When a man is filled with the Word of God you cannot keep him still, if a man has got the Word, he must speak or die.”
So once again we should ask ourselves, “Do we live our faith everyday or do we just talk about it?” Prayer: Thank you Lord for your love and saving grace. I pray that I can be the example for you that will show the world that I am your child. Amen.
