Fall officially begins Sunday September 22, 2024 at 8:44 a.m. Lucky for Cuero residents who want to be prepared and wearing the very latest fashions.

The “United Woman in Faith,” the women’s mission group of the First United Methodist Church in Cuero,) are sponsoring a Fall Brunch, followed by a Style Show at their Fellowship Hall located at 211 North Clinton Street on Saturday, September 21st at 10:30 A.M. The brunch will be catered by “A Taste Above,” and tickets for the entire event are $25.00. Proceeds from the benefit will be donated to “Norma’s House.”

“Norma’s House” is a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt organization, which means all donations are tax deductible. With locations in Gonzales and Hallettsville, “Norma’s House is a Children’s Advocacy Center serving Gonza-les, Lavaca, and DeWitt Counties.”

In 2023, 583 children were counseled in the three counties. Counseling helps children who are victims of crimes including abuse/neglect by offering a safe, child-friendly environment where children may tell of their abuse. Norma’s House also works close with communities, schools, and emergency first responders on recognizing and reporting suspected child abuse. There is no FEE for any of their services, so families can get back on the road to a healthy, restored life.

Norma’s House will be operating in Cuero at their newest location at 1105 North Hunt Blvd. beginning in October. The Executive Director is Deane Parsley-Novosad, MSW. The telephone number for Cuero is 361210-5012.

Volunteers are important, sometimes sitting with families of abused children during this stressful period. Drivers accompany children and family members to medical appointments. Volunteers are needed to prepare and serve a monthly lunch to local police and DPS officers as they meet to discuss local cases.

“Cuero is very fortunate to be getting its own community center, and the women of First United Methodist Church are excited to support these efforts as part of the local missions of “United Women in Faith,” said Judy Adams, President of the group. Membership to this organization is open, not limited to members of the Methodist Church. Tickets are available at the church office (361) 275-5272 or from Judy Adams (214) 223-4861 Charla Jones (361) 564-6008.
