My fellow Cueroites: Thank the Lord for the rain we are getting. We could use more days with slow and steady rain, and I can’t wait for all the greenery around the corner.
Tomorrow March 9, during the regular city council meeting, three proclamations will be read highlighting March events throughout the month. March is Child Abuse Awareness Month. Brain Awareness Week and Eighty years of Baseball in Cuero will also be proclaimed.
Two Cuero High School students will be recognized for earning State Champion statuses in UIL competition in Austin recently. Julian Henson earned a State Championship for his production of a short film; this is a first win for Cuero Independent School District in the filmmaking category. Landri Dyer will be recognized as well for her accomplishments in Choir.
The Mayor’s Youth Council visited Ful-OPep plant on February 24. Shout out to Dr. Greg Gosset and his employees for hosting the group. The visit was very educational.
I visited with Senator Kolkhorst and Representative Louderback on their visit and presentations at the Chamber of Commerce “State of the County” luncheon on February 25. Both are making their rounds in their districts getting ready for the upcoming 2027 State Legislative Session.
I judged the candy category at the Cuero Stock show on March 3. They wee awesome entries, and I am so proud of our youth.
The Skate Park is coming along nicely and looks awesome. The Primary Elections are over. Shout out to John Garoni on his win as Justice of the Peace.
I stopped by the new Cuero Pharmacy on West Main Street on Friday, March 6, and I spoke with Kelli Schley, the owner. She is excited to be in Cuero. Please drop by and see what the Pharmacy has to offer.
On March 24 the Cuero Gobbler Baseball team will be hosting the baseball game in Cuero, I will read a proclamation highlighting 80 years of baseball in Cuero, along with throwing out the first pitch. I really need to practice.
I recently wrote and submitted letters of recommendation for the seniors in the Mayor’s Youth Council for scholarship applications. Good luck!
