Hello, my fellow Cueroites: Last week was busy. At the regular City Council meeting proclamations were read, students were recognized on scholastic achievements and photos were taken.
Dr. Greg Gossett gave a report on the recent Cuero Livestock show. He reported record-breaking financial contributions to the Youth of Cuero. Thank you, Sir, for your direction and leadership for the livestock show.
On March 10, the ribbon cutting for Rosie’s restaurant was held. Welcome back, Rosie. You were missed.
The Pilot Cub of Cuero met at the Cuero Country Club. I reread and presented the Club a proclamation on Brain Awareness week. I was embarrassed to admit I did not know much about the Pilot club and their connection with the Anchor Club in High School. Did you know that Pilot International’s mission is to influence positive changeincommunities throughout the world? To do this, they come together in friendship and service, focusing on encouraging brain safety and health and supporting those who care for others.
The Cuero Chamber of Commerce held its annual awards banquet on March 12. Congratulations to Bill Hickey, who was awarded the Larry Carter Award for his community service; well deserved, Bill.
The Skate Park is completed, but grass must be planted and the parking lot paved, I am being told the ribbon cutting should be held in mid-May or the first of June.
Remember on Tuesday March 24 at the Cuero Gobbler High School game, I will read a proclamation recognizing 80 years of baseball in Cuero. Please come by and support the High School team.
