OUTSTANDING STUDENTS 2026
Ryan Knostman is the son of Ryan and Jaymie Knostman. He is a senior at Yorktown High School and is currently ranked number one in the Class of 2026. Throughout his high school career, Ryan has balanced rigorous academics with a strong commitment to athletics, leadership, and extracurricular activities. He has completed over 33 hours of dual credit coursework, demonstrating his dedication to academic excellence.
Ryan has been a dedicated Wildcat athlete, competing as a 4-year varsity player in football, basketball, and track and field, specializing in throwing events. Ryan has qualified for the regional track meet in shot put for 3 years and in discus for 2 years, placing 3rd last year. He has set the school record in discus with a throw of 156.8. Through athletics, he has developed leadership, discipline, and perseverance, and he takes pride in mentoring younger athletes and helping them grow both on and off the field. He has helped coach a youth basketball team and assisted with many summer camps since his freshman year.
In addition to athletics, Ryan has been actively involved in numerous academic and leadership organizations. He is a member of the National Honor Society and currently serves as its President. Ryan is also a member of the Yearbook staff and has competed in UIL Academic competitions in Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Ryan has earned the prestigious Y award each year and the Star Performer in English, Algebra II, World Geography, Science, and US History.
Ryan plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin, where he will pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He hopes to use his education to design and develop innovative technologies that improve efficiency and sustainability. Ryan is grateful for the encouragement and support of his family, teachers, coaches, and community, who have helped guide him throughout his educational journey.
