Mayor Emil Garza said it was hard to envision a splash pad at Alexander Park when it was first proposed, but at the grand opening on September 5, he couldn’t believe how beautiful it turned out.
“This is so neat!” he said. “Kids for years to come are going to enjoy this.”
The mayor said he overheard the remarks of a boy enjoying the water fountains, saying he sounds like a future community leader.
“I say go Cuero!,” Isaiah Olivares, the young boy, told observers on a play break. His excitement about the new water park inspired his im- promptu speech. “We’ve got to support our community.”
Parks Director David English, who oversaw the project throughout, said he was glad the city did the project.
