The Cuero Gobblers and Lady Gobblers took to the track in strong fashion at the Texan Relays held Thursday, March 26, in Wimberley, showcasing determination, depth, and competitive spirit against a solid field of athletes. With 10 impressive teams participating, the competition was just what the Gobblers and Lady Gobblers needed moving into the District Meet to be held at Gobbler Stadium April 8 and 9.
Jossiah Taylor led the way for the Gobblers contributing 18 points to the team total, plus an additional 16 points as part of the relay team. Taylor took 1st in the long jump at 21’6.75”, 3rd in the triple jump at 43’, and 5th in the 200m run at 23.71. Elena Gomez topped the Varsity Girls for the Lady Gobblers with an impressive 16 point contribution along with an additional 8 for the relay; placing 2nd in both the 400 and 800m runs with times of 1:01.13 and 2:23.08 respectively.
