Being a Christian does not mean that I am better or holier than anyone. It simply means that that I am a sinner saved by the grace of God. Saying that I am a Christian does not mean that I am better than anyone else. It just simply means that I am weak and rely on the strength that Jesus gives me to get through each day. I am not a perfect person by any means. My heartaches and pain are real, and I experience them just as anyone does.
There will be many that say they are Christians; however, their lifestyle and speech does not reflect it. According to the Bible, a Christian is someone who responds to God’s calling. A Christian repents of his sins, is baptized, receives God’s Holy Spirit and lives as Jesus lived.
Can we live the perfect life that Jesus lived? The answer is no; however, we can put our calling to be God’s child before everything and everyone else. Do we that call ourselves Christians do this? Not always.
All of us are human and we give into the pleasures and desires of the world. We tend to hold on to things that bother us and hurt us mentally. We allow sin, shame, anxiety, bitterness, and comparison to work on us and create uncertainty in us. Why do we do this?
We all feel the pain that these symptoms cause. We all feel the heartaches from each one of these symptoms. Even knowing the Lord as our personal Savior, why do we allow these unwanted entrances to our life?
After I became a Christian, I understood what talking to the Lord every day meant. He walks with me and talks with me every day of my life. The problems I encounter from this old world is when I put the Lord aside and try to do things on my own. Without the Lord I am a miserable person and failure.
I honestly believe that we are all this way. Each morning as we wake up from our sleep we should talk with the Lord and thank Him for another day of life. We need to ask Him to guide us through the day and allow us to be a witness to those around us. We should ask him to cleanse us of all unrighteousness and fill us with His joy, peace, and grace.
When we do this any of us can say that “we are a Christian”. It does not mean we are bragging about being a Christian, it simply means that we have failed so many times and now we have an advocate that we can talk to, confess our sins, and ask for forgiveness. Each one of us are weak and need the Lord to go through each day.
Hopefully if you are reading this, you know Jesus as your Lord and Savior. If not, go to your knees today, confess your sins, and ask Jesus to come into your heart! Enjoy knowing that you will spend eternity with our Lord and Savior!
Prayer: Father, I am a sinner. I do know you personally and I thank you for being my Lord and Savior. I pray that I will be the example of a Christian that will radiate you to everyone. Amen.
