The Cuero Livestock Show Board of Directors chose Mark and Sue Doehrman as Honorary Show Members for the 2026 event that concluded March 6.
The board chose the couple rather than an individual honoree this year because of their longtime team work in the DeWitt County agricultural community, according to Anthony Netardus, DeWitt County Extension Agent-Agriculture.
“This husband-andwife team has been part of the DeWitt County livestock community— as supporters, volunteers, and dedicated contributors—for all 46 years of their life together,” show organizers said in the introduction of the couple at the show.
The Doehrmans married in 1980, and although she did not grow up in 4-H or FFA as her young farmer husband did, she embraced the agricultural lifestyle with him. As a youth he won Grand or Reserve Champion multiple times, and won various honors for his agricultural work.
Over the years, he served as a stock show committeeman and later as a longtime member of the board of directors. She supported endless livestock and homemaking projects, becoming skilled at haltering steers, walking pigs, and keeping meticulous records for many of the family’s projects.
“Their combined efforts have touched nearly every corner of the Cuero Livestock Show,” show organizers said. “We are proud to celebrate them for their many years of service and unwavering dedication to the Cuero Livestock Show. They are a true example of what it means to build community, preserve tradition, and ensure this event continues to thrive from one generation to the next.”
The couple raised four children, all of whom have been involved in the show as well and attended the 2026 event with their families to celebrate the Doehrman’s award.
