Yorktown Independent School District now boasts a new scoreboard at the Wildcats Football Stadium thanks to a sponsorship from Simmons Bank.

“It is a great thing for our school district and community,” said YISD Athletic Director Ryan Knostman. “Our football stadium is one of our main show pieces for our district and our community and to have a beautiful new scoreboard makes our stadium really shine.”

Simmons Bank officials said they were delighted to be able to sponsor the new scoreboard for the community.

“We are honored to continue building on a strong foundation of service to our customers and communities,” they said.

Spectrum by Watchfire removed the old scoreboard and installed the new one over two days, finishing March 30.

Knostman said the old scoreboard that was about 20 years old had caused problems for the past two football seasons, and each time required extensive work to fix it.

“Replacement parts were becoming harder and harder to come by,” Knostman said. “The tipping point happened this year when the scoreboard went out during a Varsity Football game against Taft.”

Knostman said he contacted various scoreboard companies at the end of the season to explore options for replacing it. Several mockups were presented to YISD Superintendent Gerald Nixon and the Board of Trustees.

“Shortly after the board meeting, Simmons Bank officials reached out offering to sponsor the new scoreboard,” Knostman said. “Simmons had sponsored the old scoreboard, and it was awesome that they wanted to continue the tradition of being the scoreboard sponsor. We decided on a design and got the ball rolling for replacement.”

Simmons Bank opened their doors on March 23, 1903, in Pine Bluff, Ark., bank officials said. This year marks 123 years of service by the bank to communities where it operates.

“What started out as a small, hometown bank has grown into a premier, Mid-South bank. Simmons Bank operates 220 branches in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas,” bank officials said.
