Track fans from the area attended the District 28 4A Track Meet at Gobbler Stadium April 8-9. The competition was fierce, but the overall performances of the JV Boys and Girls teams displayed both true team spirit.
JV Boys Shine
The JV Boys' team emerged victorious, clinching 1st place overall. Their performance was marked by strong showings across a multitude of events. Notable highlights included Jarvis Williams, who dominated the 200m with a stellar 1st place finish. He added to his impressive record by taking 1st place in the long jump, and 2nd in the triple jump.
EJ Gomez also made a significant impact, finishing strong in the 400m, where he took home 1st place, as well as Dominic White who earned a gold in shotput. In the relay events, the boys didn’t disappoint; the 4x200 relay team, made up of EJ Gomez, Jace Girndt, Jay Molina, Prince SantaCruz triumphed with a 1st place finish. The 4x100 relay team brought home the silver medal, missing 1st by .05. The relay team consisted of Dominic Perez, Jarvis Williams, D’zayvion Bonner and Jace Patek.
Among the distance runners, Logan Garcia demonstrated his endurance and resilience by finishing 2nd in the 1600m and contributing to a commendable 4th place in the 800m alongside teammate De'Marion Dilworth, who placed 3rd in the latter. The boys’ team was bolstered by impressive performances in field events as well, with Prince SantaCruz finishing strong in discus with a 2nd place effort.
JV Girls Team
The JV Girls team also showcased their remarkable talents, proving to be quite competitive. Jaleija Jackson highlighted the girls' efforts by sprinting her way to a 1st place finish in the 200m dash. Her outstanding performance was complemented by Bailey Blank, who not only won the 800m but also secured 2nd place in the 1600m.
The relay teams didn't shy away from competition either, with the 4x200 relay team consisting of Jaleija Jackson, Sanai Mathis, Alejandra Perez, and Parker Gohmert, finishing strong in 2nd place. In the field events, Bella Staten shone brightly with a superb 1st place in discus, showing that the girls’ team has plenty of talent in throwing disciplines as well.
With such impressive performances at Gobbler Stadium, it's clear that the future of these young athletes is bright. As they continue to train and compete, they carry the momentum from this successful meet into future competitions, aiming for even greater achievements.
