Hermann Sons Life Yorktown School of Dance is open for registration, now through October 1st. Not a member? Not a problem! New this year – the dance program is open to members and non-members! As always, members (policyholders) will continue to receive a discounted rate for classes while non-members will pay an additional registration fee. Saturday Night Fever – Babe and Bubba Bingo SNYPD (Spay Neuter Your Pet DeWitt) hosts its Babe and Bubba Bingo with a Saturday Night Fever theme on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 5-11 p.m. at the Anne Friar Thomas Homemaking Building, 501 Martin Luther King Drive, Cuero. A Day in The Country

On Saturday, Sept. 14, Weesatche 4 Warriors is honoring active duty military, veterans, wounded warriors, first responders and families in memory of lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001. The event starts with a 10 a.m. opening ceremony and continues with a chuck wagon lunch, family fun activities and live entertainment until 2 p.m. at the Weesatche Community Center, 161 E. FM 884, in Goliad.

Bake Sale for Veterans

On Saturday, September 14th, the Weesatche Hermann Sons will hold a bake sale at the Weesatche 4 Warriors Event held at the Weesatche Community Center beginning at 10 AM. All proceeds will benefit local veteran and first responder groups. In addition, the home office of Hermann Sons Life will provide matching funds. All are invited to come enjoy a fun day in the country and help us honor our military, veterans, and first responders.

Order of Christian Initiation

At Holy Cross in Yorktown, we are preparing for our upcoming 2024-2025 O.C.I.A. (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, previously known as R.C.I.A.) process. Whether you are interested in, or thinking about, joining the Catholic faith, returning to the Church, or just looking to gain or further your knowledge of your Christian faith, please do not hesitate to let us know. Do not let a previous marriage/s, lack of a particular sacrament, having been away from church for a time, or anything else, keep you from experiencing God’s love and healing presence in your life. Trivia Night

Bring your friends and brain power for an unforgettable night of trivia, benefitting the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund. Kozielski 33rd Family Reunion

The Anton and Lucy Ficus Kozielski 33rd Family Reunion will be held on September 15, 2024 at the Yorktown Fire Hall. The hall is located at 107 W. Main Street; Yorktown, Tx. Registration will begin at 11:00 am. The covered dish dinner will be served at noon. Hope to see you there.

Fall Sausage Feast The Lindenau Rifle Club’s Annual Fall Sausage Feast will be held Sunday, Sept. 15, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pre-sale tickets are only $15 each. Meal consists of sausage, German potatoes, stuffed cabbage, and pinto beans. Plates are Drive Through Only at the eating stand. Tickets can be purchased at Security Storage, 115 E. S. Railroad, the DeWitt county Co-op, and Anders Auto Supply, or from any Lindenau Rifle Club member, through Friday, Sept. 133 at 1 p.m. To pre-order Fresh Sausage by the pound, while supplies lists, call Curtis Koenig at 361-564-8148. Fresh sausage will be picked up at the dance hall from 11 a.m.to 1 p.m.

Neil Schuenemann Blood Drive The 19 th Annual Neil Schuenemann Memorial Blood Drive will be held on Saturday, September 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Nordheim. The bloodmobile will be set up just off of Broadway next to City Hall. This will be the 19th year that the community has helped make this drive a HUGE success! Thank you in advance! Appointments are preferred but walkins are always welcome. For more information or to schedule an appointment, go to www.southtexasblood. org. The qualifications to be a blood donor are simple. You must be in good general health, at least 17 years of age (or 16 with parental consent) and weigh at least 110 lbs (or 120 lbs if 16 years old). Donors must present a photo ID or other form of identification.

Norma’s House Fundraising Brunch & Style Show

A brunch catered by “A Taste Above” and style show featuring local businesses will be held Saturday, Sept. 21, 10:30 a.m. at Cuero’s First United Methodist Church. Proceeds will benefit Norma’s House, a new children’s advocacy center in DeWitt County. The non-profit provides services to children who are drug endangered, have witnessed violent crime or who are victims of sexual or physical abuse. $25 per person. Lives Remembered The Yorktown Bicentennial Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will join the DeWitt County Historical Commission in their annual presentation of Lives Remembered. The program is set for Saturday, Sept. 21 at 3 p.m. at the Cuero American Legion Hall. Admission is free, although donations are appreciated. Come join us.

Women in Business Luncheon

The Cuero Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the 2024 Women in Business Luncheon, a premier event designed to celebrate and empower local businesswomen. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, September 25, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Venue on Church Street. This year’s luncheon, proudly sponsored by The Venue on Church Street, promises an afternoon full of motivation, learning, and networking opportunities. Fajita Plate Fundraiser

Yorktown’s Cameron Masonic Lodge will have a Fajita Plate Fundraiser on Monday, September 30th from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Plates will be $14 and to go only. The Masons are partnering with Werners out of Shiner to provide plates consisting of beef/chicken fajitas, rice, beans and tortillas. The community’s support is and always has been appreciated. EMS 35 Year Celebration

Yorktown EMS is proud to be celebrating 35 years of serving our community and surrounding areas. To celebrate this honor, plans are underway for a Family Fun Filled Day on Saturday, November 9, starting at 4 p.m. at Yorktown Community Hall. Activities of the day include a bounce house for the kids, putt putt golf, a cornhole tournament, silent auction, and BBQ plates. Then DANCE the night away with Chris Gonzales and The Rekkers from 7-11 p.m. Yorktown EMS is a non-profit organization and without the support of our community this would not be possible. Library/Crown Hospice Hosts Senior Social Hour Crown Hospice is holding a Senior Social Hour at the Yorktown Public Library on the 1st Monday of every month. The social hour begins at 10 a.m. and is open to the public. Bingo, prizes and snacks are all provided free of charge. The hosts look forward to you attending.

Do you love photography? Do you want to learn more, be inspired, challenged? Do you want to get together with other creative photographers? If so, please join us at a Shutterbugs meeting. Meals on Wheels volunteers needed Volunteers are needed to help deliver meals in the central DeWitt County area for Meals on Wheels South Texas. Meals are delivered once a week on Wednesdays from about 11 a.m. to noon. If you are interested in volunteering you can go to mowstx.org or email [email protected].
