Skidmore-Tynan were 4-6 last season and are in 2A Division I - District 16 with Freer, Premont, Refugio, Riviera-Kaufer, Santa Maria, and Three Rivers.
The Bobcats started the season with two losses to both Natalia (28-18) and Kenedy (34-16). Key players for the squad include running back Kolton Lopez, wide receiver Mason Nelson, and quarterback Chase Schanen. The Schanen and Nelson duo connected for an 89 yard touchdown in week one. Mason tallied a total 114 yards and one touchdown on offense while Lopez accumulated 2 touchdowns and 125 yards against Natalia. Schanen had a 57.1 completion percentage while passing for 208 yards.
Skidmore-Tynan runs a balanced offense. They amassed 353 yards against Natalia with 208 passing and 145 rushing. They have averaged 17 points of offense through their first two games.
During week one, Brody Metting went 7/20 accumulating 43 passing yards while he rushed for a touchdown and 159 yards with 23 carries, averaging 6.9 yards per carry. Brayden Knostman rushed for a touchdown and went 25 yards on three carries, averaging 8.3 yards per carry. The Wildcats utilized wide receivers Matthew Olguin and Garrett Menn who averaged 6.8 yards per catch while making 4 catches for 27 yards and 2 catches for 11 yards, averaging 5.5 yards per catch, re- spectively. As a team, Yorktown gathered 292 total yards of offense with 49 yards passing and 243 rushing against Karnes City.
Defensively Richard Flores was a key player, putting pressure on the quarterback with his two sacks.
The series between the two teams is 1-0 in favor of the Wildcats as they defeated the Bobcats 22-7 in 2004. This new match is set for 7:00 pm at Wildcat Stadium.
