The value of things you see over your lifetime will change from place to place. I have witnessed this in many ways as I have traveled through these many years of my life.
My wife and I have moved our family seven times since being in the print media business. We have joked many times with our friends that we got out of the Air Force because we did not want to move around. However, the Lord had plans for us in several different locations.
I read a great analogy on the price of water one day that really makes sense. What the value of water is depends on where you are and who you are around. You may go to a large distributor of food and buy water as low as .25 cents. The same brand and size of that water may cost you .50 cents in a supermarket. However, if you get the same brand and size bottle of water in a nice restaurant, hotel, or theme park it could cost as much as $3 per bottle and in an airport or aboard a plane could be even more.
Each place has its own value and people will pay according to where they are.
The same holds true for us. The value of our witness or example to anyone depends on where we are and who we are with. It does not matter who we are with or where we are, we should be the ones that spread the good news to any and everyone. We should never compromise our demeanor, or our actions based on our location and the company we keep.
Proverbs 3:5 tells us; “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” This is a verse that everyone should learn and keep in their mind everyday of your life.
Even as our family moved around to several places, we found that Christians are everywhere. Of course, our new churches that we became members of provided good friends. We also found that people of all ages and surroundings, whether Christians or not, have knowledge of Jesus and His wonderful works. We have also witnessed many times that people are open to hearing the good news if someone had only taken the time to share it with them.
Will you be the person that will share Jesus with others? Sharing the good news is not like selling water in different locations. The value does not change, no matter where you are it is always the same. The vessel can differ, but the message will never alter!
Prayer: Dear Lord I pray that I will always share you with everyone I see or talk with, not only in my speech but also through my actions. Amen.
