Make this a summer to remember by helping at your local pet rescue and shelter, Pet Adoptions of Cuero.
This 501c3 nonprofit is certified to qualify community service hours needed for National Honor Society, church projects, club or organization membership requirements and even minor misdemeanors. Volunteers will find it rewarding not only to fulfill their needed donated hours and time, but also to give a helping hand to a very busy, very overwhelmed pet rescue and rehabilitation facility.
The shelter is open every day of the year from 8 a.m. until 12 noon — yes, all weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays and holidays too because there are so many furry residents currently that need care, feeding and exercise daily.
Dress is casual, -shirts, jeans, shorts etc. but shoes must be closed-toe, no sandals or thongs or clogs. Tennis shoes or any full-cover footwear is required.
Volunteers can help with laundry, dish washing, pet baths, training, socialization, dog walking and lots of kitten cuddling. In addition to signing off on any required group forms, PAOC will provide a referral and endorsement form that is sure to be impressive on a college resume or future regular employment applications. When it is time for a full-time 'real' job a complimentary letter verifying donated time spent at a nonprofit is sure to impress potential employers during a job interview.
Summer volunteers at Pet Adoptions of Cuero must be 15 years old and up (we like senior helpers too!). There is no application needed but a simple one-page volunteer agreement must be signed on arrival.
The shelter is located at 407 US Highway 183 South, Cuero. Call at least one day in advance to confirm the day you plan to volunteer 361-2438550. Come have fun and make a difference during the Dog Days of Summer at PAOC.
