The DeWitt County Commissioners Court approved a no through truck traffic sign on McGehee Road at a regular meeting following a public hearing on May 26.
McGehee Road is in Precinct 2 in the north central part of the county. It is a connector road between U.S. Hwy 183 North and Concrete- Edgar Road near the historic community of Concrete, and it also intersects with several county roads.
In other action, the court:
• Discussed renewal options and quotes provided by the Texas Association of Counties Health and Benefits Pool in a workshop for the employee health insurance benefit plan but took no action on selecting a plan.
• Heard a proposal by Orlando Espinoza, a benefits consultant for Higginbotham Public Sector and appointed the agency to negotiate with insurance carriers on behalf of the county.
• Authorized the auditor to advertise for proposals for employee health, vision and dental insurance.
• Appointed Ashley E. Hunt as the Title VI Coordinator and approved the county’s Title VI Plan. Title VI is a federal law prohibiting discrimination based on race, color or national origin.
• Approved acceptance of a monetary donation of $3,267 from Guadalupe- Blanco River Authority to replace paddling trail kiosks along the Guadalupe Valley Paddling Trail in Precinct 1.
• Approved the county’s 2026 Hazard Mitigation Action Plan.
• Approved temporary right-of-way permit applications in Precinct 1 along Muschalek Road and Klein Road for Select Water Solutions and Hahn Road for EOG Resources.
