The Yorktown News-View and Cuero Record welcome reporter Bobby Horecka to the editorial staff serving the two newspapers.
The veteran journalist will be covering events, news items and other stories of interest for Cuero, Yorktown and the rest of DeWitt County. He also will be reporting for the Jackson County Herald Tribune, another newspaper owned by Texas Local Media.
Horecka comes from just across the county line, where he and his wife, Jennifer — a grade schoolteacher who taught several years at Cuero’s St. Michael’s Catholic School — spent the last few years establishing their farm between Shiner and Hallettsville. During that time, he worked for Lavaca County’s four newspapers and led the nearby Luling Newsboy & Signal to a 2025 Sweepstakes Award with the Texas Press Association, his fourth such honor in a career that now spans four decades.
While collecting multiple state and national press accolades through the years, Horecka is also a published au- thor with a dozen books to his credit, so far. His 2020 story collection, Long Gone & Lost: True Fictions and Other Lies, even got shortlisted for a 2021 book award with the Texas Institute of Letters.
