Suicide Prevention Walk
The Pilot Club of Cuero and Cuero ISD are hosting the first Annual Suicide Prevention Walk, Wednesday, September 18, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Cuero High School track. This is a free event open to all members of the community. Resources, information and giveaways are available for all ages.

CISD Substitutes, Cafeteria Workers, and Bus Drivers
The Cuero ISD will hold its substitute training on Thursday, September 19 at 9:00 a.m. in the Cuero ISD Administration Office located at 960 East Broadway, Cuero. This training is a state required and will provide individuals wishing to work in the classroom, cafeteria, or driving a bus with information necessary for success.
All substitutes must attend this training. New applicants need to bring a copy of their social security card, driver’s license, and transcript or diploma to the training as well. Applicants that have not completed an application with Cuero ISD, need to go to www.cueroisd.org. Senior Box Sign Up
The Food Bank of the Golden Crescent’s Senior Food Box Program provides eligible, low-income seniors with a monthly box of nutritious food. Enrollment is free, but in-person pre-registration is needed on Friday, Sept.

Norma’s House Fundraising Brunch & Style Show
A brunch catered by “A Taste Above” and style show featuring local businesses will be held Saturday, Sept. 21, 10:30 a.m. at Cuero’s First United Methodist Church. Proceeds will benefit Norma’s House, a new children’s advocacy center in DeWitt County. The non-profit provides services to children who are drug endangered, have witnessed violent crime or who are victims of sexual or physical abuse. $25 per person. Lives Remembered
The Yorktown Bicentennial Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will join the DeWitt County Historical Commission in their annual presentation of Lives Remembered. The program is set for Saturday, Sept. 21 at 3 p.m. at the Cuero American Legion Hall. Admission is free, although donations are appreciated. Come join us.

Cooking with Herbs
To recognize September as Native Plant month, Keep Cuero Beautiful will host Denise Goebel, AgriLife Extension Agent, presenting a program “Cooking with Herbs” at the Cuero Public Library Thursday September 26 at 10 AM. Refreshments will be served at 9:30 AM and door prizes, too. Mrs Goebel will share information with guests regarding several commonly used herbs and introduce the group to the ‘Star Herb’! Poinsettia Orders
The Cuero Regional Hospital Volunteers are taking orders for their annual Poinsettia sale. Red or white poinsettias in six inch pots will be $12.00 and red hanging baskets will be $25.00. Orders can be placed at Bloomingdeals (361-2759755) or the Wishing Well (361-275-6191). Orders must be placed by September 27th and will be available for pick up on December 7th at the front entrance to the hospital.
All proceeds benefit the Cuero Regional Hospital staff.
Murder at the Masquerade
A masquerade murder mystery dinner event to benefit the Friends of DeWitt County Children will be held Saturday, Sept. 28, at 6 p.m. at The Venue on Church Street in Cuero. Ticketing information to follow.
Tri-Church Worship Service
In a celebration of community and faith, the Tri-Church Worship Service will be held on Sunday, September 29 at 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel Without Walls, located on the grounds of First Presbyterian Church, 302 N. McLeod in downtown Cuero. This quarterly event marks a vibrant partnership between three local churches: Grace Episcopal Church, First Presbyterian Church of Cuero, and First United Methodist Church.
Following the service, attendees are invited to join in a picnic lunch featuring hamburgers, hotdogs, and a variety of sides.
This casual meal will provide a perfect opportunity for fellowship and conversation among members of the participating churches and the wider Cuero community.

Fajita Plate Fundraiser
Yorktown’s Cameron Masonic Lodge will have a Fajita Plate Fundraiser on Monday, September 30th from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Plates will be $14 and to go only. The Masons are partnering with Werners out of Shiner to provide plates consisting of beef/chicken fajitas, rice, beans and tortillas. The community’s support is and always has been appreciated. TPA Breakfast
The Travelers Protective Association (TPA) will have its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, October 1 at 8:30 a.m. at the Bohnhof Cafe, 213 W. Main. All members and prospective members are invited to attend and enjoy breakfast with the group.
Fall Clean Sweep
Keep Cuero Beautiful encourage Cuero citizens to organize teams and enter the KTB/KCB Fall Clean Sweep Saturday, Oct 5 to clean up litter from Cuero neighborhoods. Teams and individuals will meet at 8:30 AM at the Downtown market Pavilion adjacent to the Cuero Public Library, 207 E Main, for light breakfast, neighborhood assignments for cleanup, and supplies. By 11 AM teams will meet at the Cuero Recycling Center on E Broadway to weigh their collections. The top 3 teams in weight of litter cleaned up will earn $100/each to pay forward to the team’s favorite non-profit organization.
Veteran’s Day Chicken BBQ
The American Legion Dinter Post 3 is hosting a Veteran’s Day Chicken BBQ on Saturday, Nov. 9. The proceeds will go to help area veterans in need and for Post home improvements. The BBQ will be held at the American Legion Hall, 310 S. Esplanade with chicken pickup times from 10:30-12:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the DeWitt County Coop and Ander’s Auto Supply in Downtown Cuero. We are asking for $15 donation for each BBQ chicken.
EMS 35 Year Celebration
Yorktown EMS is proud to be celebrating 35 years of serving our community and surrounding areas. To celebrate this honor, plans are underway for a Family Fun Filled Day on Saturday, November 9, starting at 4 p.m. at Yorktown Community Hall.
Activities of the day include a bounce house for the kids, putt putt golf, a cornhole tournament, silent auction, and BBQ plates. Then DANCE the night away with Chris Gonzales and The Rekkers from 7-11 p.m.

Annual Turkey Shoot
The Cuero Rotary Club is excited to announce its annual Turkey Shoot, taking place on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the Cuero Sportsman Club, located at 902 E. Bailey St., Cuero, TX. This community event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with registration beginning at 9:00 a.m. Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their marksmanship in 16 thrilling shooting rounds, competing for a variety of prizes and cash rewards.

Child Find Evaluations
School districts must ensure that a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) is provided for children who are identified as needing special education and related services.
Child Find is a process to identify, locate, and evaluate individuals from birth to 21 years of age who may need special education and related services.
Evaluations for Cuero, Meyersville, Nursery and Westhoff ISD’s are available through Child Find. Early childhood intervention programs serve children with developmental delays and their families. Meals on Wheels Volunteers Needed
