“Kids in the Kitchen” — Italian Style

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Family and Community Health Agent Denise Goebel will host the annual “Kids in the Kitchen” Chef Camp July 15-16 at the Anne Friar Thomas Homemaking Building in Cuero from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

The cost is $50 for both days. Youth will receive a chef’s apron and hat to use during camp and keep afterward, along with other goodies. Enrollment is limited to 25 campers.

The camp is open to all DeWitt County youth, both 4-H and non-4-H members, ages 8 and older.

Chef campers will learn food safety and food preparation skills and will make their own snacks, drinks and lunch each day. This year’s theme is Italian Style, with participants making homemade noodles and sauces along with other Italian dishes and desserts.

Participants will also learn how to properly set a table and serve guests and will have the opportunity to compete in an Ag Product ID contest.

To reserve a spot, call the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office of DeWitt County at 361-2750816. Payment must be made in person at the AgriLife Extension office, 115 N. Gonzales St., Cuero.

Registration will be accepted until the class is full or through July 10. Those interested are encouraged to reserve a spot as soon as possible.
