Victoria’s Inez farmer appointed to state conservation board

Gov. Greg Abbott has appointed Lindsey Bowers of Inez to the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board, a state agency that administers Texas soil and water conservation laws and coordinates conservation and pollution-abatement programs across the state. The appointment is for a term set to expire Feb. 1, 2028, and is subject to Senate confirmation.

Bowers is a grain merchandiser with United Ag and farms with her family in Victoria County. She serves as secretary and treasurer of the South Texas Country Elevator Association and is a member of the South Texas Cotton and Grain Association, Texas Corn Producers and Texas Sorghum.

She also serves on the poultry committee for the Victoria Livestock Show and the sponsorship committee for the El Campo FFA Booster Club and is co-chair of the St. Philip Pioneer Booster Club. Bowers earned a bachelor's degree in agricultural business from Texas A&M University.

“We are excited to welcome Lindsey Bowers to the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board,” Executive Director Kendria Ray said. “Her background will bring valuable insight to the TSSWCB. We look forward to working alongside her as we continue advancing conservation efforts that protect Texas’ soil and water resources for future generations.”

The Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board was established in 1939 and works with the state's 216 soil and water conservation districts to deliver natural resource conservation programs to agricultural producers. The agency also leads efforts to prevent and reduce agricultural and silvicultural nonpoint- source water pollution.
