The Yorktown Public Library is reminding families that the registration deadline for its 2026 Summer Reading Program is June 30.
Children ages 2-12 can participate in the program by submitting at least one reading log before the deadline. Participants may continue turning in reading logs throughout the summer for chances to win weekly prizes.
This year's program, themed 'Unearth a Story!,' encourages young readers to track their reading minutes while exploring books and educational activities. Final reading logs are due July 17, with an ice cream party and awards celebration scheduled for 10 a.m. July 22.
Reading logs may be submitted during regular library hours at the Yorktown Public Library, 103 W. Main St. For more information, call 361-564-3232. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.
