Grace Episcopal Church & School is having a monumental celebration of its 150th anniversary. This sesquicentennial milestone commemorates the church’s long-standing dedication to faith, outreach, and community service. The event will take place on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Proctor Hall and will include a special blessing of the newly established Grace Episcopal School.
We are extending this invitation and warmly inviting former staff members, students, and the community to join us.
The evening will feature the Right Reverend Dr. David Read, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas, who will lead the bless- ing of the new school facilities. The celebration will also include live music, delicious food, engaging activities, and a screening of the 1990 reenactment of Grace Episcopal Church’s founding.
Founded in 1874, Grace Episcopal Church has played a vital role in Cuero’s spiritual and community life for 150 years. Its original church building, brought from Lavaca, marked the first permanent church structure in town, opening its doors to other congregations for worship. Grace Cuero has expanded its community outreach by partnering with Meals on Wheels, and events such as the Blessing of the Brands, a yearly Turkeyfest Parade watching party where we operate a table offering snacks, water, and fans. Notably, our outdoor food pantry is always available for anyone in need— allowing individuals to walk up and receive some food at any time of day. These efforts continue our dedication to serving both local and broader communities.
In addition to its strong tradition of service, Grace Episcopal Church continues to value its rich liturgical and musical heritage, with weekly Rite II services and an emphasis on fostering meaningful relationships within its congregation.
