Recently I traveled to Branson, MO, with my wife and several of our friends. We attended the Hughes Brothers Christmas Show and was very entertained and enlightened with their performance. It was a family atmosphere and all their children participated in the program.

One of the best parts of the show featured a program called “Teach the Children.” All during their show they told about the children are our future and we, as adults, need to teach them about Jesus Christ and His Saving Grace. As we do this, we should teach them about ethical values and morals, how important their integrity is to the future of their life. If we teach them these values, then the future of our nation will turn away once again from the worldly expectations that we have allowed to become part of our daily living.

Jesus tells us in Luke 9:48, “…and said to them, ‘Whoever receives this little child in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me receives Him who sent Me. For he who is least among you all will be great.’” Jesus loves children. He affirms and respects them as persons and acknowledges their spirit. We, as parents and adults, need to nurture them and raise them in a Christian manner and warn them about the ways of the world. With so many changes taking place in our society of non-Christian attitudes, they are learning ways of life that is not conducive to what the Bible teaches us.

Many of our political leaders have leaned so far left that they are trying to take God out of everything this country was built on. Many adult leaders have become so liberal that they believe everything is based on what man says and can do. Many say there is no ‘God’.

Our children are hearing this and absorbing these false narratives into their vulnerable minds. We as adults and community leaders must take a stand for Christian values and teach them to our little ones. It all starts in the home, but many young minds never hear these type words at home and our teachers at school step in when they can, however many schools are banned from teaching Christian ethics and values.

It is so refreshing to see entertainers in Branson speak up about the need of teaching our children about Jesus. In my hometown we have a retired high school coach that has started a program called “Focus on the Children.” He started this several years ago and is finally getting some support from others in the community. He has the heart for our children and has really pushed hard for good Christian leadership and support from our community leaders. He thoroughly understands the need for our children to be trained in the basics of good, ethical, and moral values. This will go to the homes of these youth and possibly change the thinking of parents who don’t care about what their children are doing.

We need to always remember that young children repeat what is said at home and act out accordingly to how they are perceived and treated in the homeplace. All of us need to understand this and think about the future of our children and/or the children around us. Be a good example and explain to our children that the world is only temporary and at one day in the future our life will in. Do we want them to spend eternity with Jesus?

Prayer: Thank you Jesus for the children and grandchildren you have blessed our family with. Thank you for the ones that have accepted you into their lives. Amen.
