Thank you Turkeyfest Association for all your work

Hello Cuero, The trial Ruby’s Race Day Pancake Breakfast was a huge success: 115 plates were served by 17 volunteers from across the Cuero Community. Many businesses donated items and funds to support the event, and next week I will recognize all who supported both events. Please come out this Saturday morning and get a pancake, sausage and drink of your choice. Serving will begin at 7:30 am at the Downtown walkway; 300 plates will be served; seating will be available to enjoy your meal. Fill your belly, and make your way to cheer on Ruby and enjoy the Turkeyfest parade, first come, first serve.

I must acknowledge two individuals who have been instrumental in ensuring both the pancake events have/will be successful, Fire Chief Craig Oakes, Cuero Volunteer Fire Department and Francis Delaney, President, Cuero Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association. Thank you both for your undying support for the community.

With the dry ground, water main breaks are becoming more prevalent, the city water crews are working fast and hard to keep water available to your residence. If you see any of these crew members, please thank them for their determination to keep service interruptions to a minimum. On 24 September I attended a meeting of the Victoria Mayor's Youth Council to get an idea on the Cuero Council. I currently have 6 applications from Cuero High School Juniors and Seniors. I extended the deadline until October 4, in hopes of receiving a few more. I am excited to get this group off the ground.

I delivered welcome remarks to the Cuero Chamber of Commerce Women in Business event on September 25th.

What an awesome turnout and opportunity to create a support system amongst Cuero’s Women in Business. These opportunities strengthen the Community.

On 29 September, members of the Cuero Stars baseball team (10-year-olds) won a one-day Championship tournament here at the Jim Hall Memorial complex. The boys battled all day but never wavered. “Congratulations Cuero Stars!” Way to represent your hometown Cuero!!

On 30 September I attended the regular meeting of the Cuero Housing Authority. I met the Board members and introduced myself, distributed my business card and offered assistance from the City of Cuero to the Community’s residents. I also received an update on a Unit fire, September 14. All tenants have been placed in alternate housing.

This week will be busy, tomorrow October 8, I leave for Houston to attend the Texas Municipal League Conference. On Friday October 11, I will host the Worthington delegation and both race teams at the Mayor’s Dinner and on Saturday October 12, I will deliver welcome remarks to the Great Gobbler Gallop and the 52nd Turkeyfest parade. Please come out and enjoy the festivities and if you see any Turkeyfest Association members, please thank them for the many volunteer hours they perform throughout the year to ensure a successful Turkeyfest event for the community, for you!!!! More to come!!
