Turkeyfest Carnival
This year Cuero Turkeyfest and Marriam Midway will be selling presale wristband coupons for $20 each. You will be redeemed the coupon at the midway ticket booth for one wristband to use for one session per coupon. Wristband times are as followed: Thursday: 6-10; Friday: 6-11; Saturday: Noon-5 or 6-11; Sunday: 1-7. You may purchase your coupon from Cuero Chamber of Commerce, Cuero Lube and Tire, or a Cuero Turkeyfest Board Member. The last day to purchase presale tickets will be Wednesday, October 9.
Turkey Trot 5K

3rd Annual Gospel Fest
Join us Saturday October 12, 2024 for the Tri-City Empowerment 3rd Annual Gospel Fest at the Friar Ag Center here in Cuero. The event will be from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Featured guests include Christopher D. Spivey & Company, a dynamic group of singers from the Austin, as well as Psalmist, Worship Pastor, Recording Artist and Producer, Chester D. T. Baldwin. Come and lift your voice with us in a celebration of worship hosted by Tri-City Empowerment Council sponsored by the City of Cuero Hot Funds.
Drive Thru Flu Vaccine
We will be hosting our annual Drive Thru Flu Vaccine event on Tuesday, October 15th.
Patients can drive thru the main front entrance of the hospital to receive their vaccine. We just need insurance cards for those with insurance, and for cash paying patients the price is $35 for the regular Flu Vaccine, and $75 for the High Dose Flu Vaccine. CISD Substitute, Cafeteria, and Bus Driver Training
The Cuero ISD will hold its substitute training on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. in the Cuero ISD Administration Office located at 960 East Broadway, Cuero. This training is a state required and will provide individuals wishing to work in the classroom, cafeteria, or driving a bus with information necessary for success. All substitutes must attend this training. New applicants need to bring a copy of their social security card, driver’s license, and transcript or diploma to the training as well. Applicants that have not completed an application with Cuero ISD, need to go to www. cueroisd.org. Blood Drive Appointments
Cuero Regional Hospital will be hosting a blood drive for the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center in the Education Classroom on Thursday, October 17th, from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm. Anyone who is 16 years old weighing 120 pounds (with parental consent form), or at least 17 years old weighing 110 pounds, and in good general health can donate blood. Trunk-or-Treat
First United Methodist Church and many of the area churches will once again host Trunk-or-Treat around the courthouse. This has been a tradition for more than 20 years. If you would like to help with this event, we would love for you to join us. Dress up your car, yourself (not scary please), bring lots of candy and join the fun. “Arsenic and Old Lace”
The Shiner Gaslight Theatre (207 East 7th St) presents “Arsenic and Old Lace,' the fall production on Fri., Sat., and Sun., November 8, 9, 10,15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24. A Wednesday performance is Nov. 13. All are in the evening except for Sunday matinees. The comedy involves Mortimer Brewster, who has discovered that his two spinster aunts have been poisoning lonely old men for years. A meal is served before the play. Veteran’s Day Chicken BBQ
The American Legion Dinter Post 3 is hosting a Veteran’s Day Chicken BBQ on Saturday, Nov. 9. The proceeds will go to help area veterans in need and for Post home improvements. The BBQ will be held at the American Legion Hall, 310 S. Esplanade with chicken pickup times from 10:30-12:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the De-Witt County Coop and Ander’s Auto Supply in Downtown Cuero. We are asking for $15 donation for each BBQ chicken.
EMS 35 Year Celebration
Yorktown EMS is proud to be celebrating 35 years of serving our community and surrounding areas. To celebrate this honor, plans are underway for a Family Fun Filled Day on Saturday, November 9, starting at 4 p.m. at Yorktown Community Hall. Activities of the day include a bounce house for the kids, putt putt golf, a cornhole tournament, silent auction, and BBQ plates.
Then DANCE the night away with Chris Gonzales and The Rekkers from 7-11 p.m.

Annual Turkey Shoot
The Cuero Rotary Club is excited to announce its annual Turkey Shoot, taking place on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the Cuero Sportsman Club, located at 902 E. Bailey St., Cuero, TX. This community event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with registration beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their marksmanship in 16 thrilling shooting rounds, competing for a variety of prizes and cash rewards. Proceeds from the event will go towards supporting local organizations and providing scholarships to deserving graduates of Cuero High School. Child Find Evaluations
School districts must ensure that a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) is provided for children who are identified as needing special education and related services.
Child Find is a process to identify, locate, and evaluate individuals from birth to 21 years of age who may need special education and related services. Evaluations for Cuero, Meyersville, Nursery and Westhoff ISD’s are available through Child Find.

Meals on Wheels Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are needed to help deliver meals in the central DeWitt County area for Meals on Wheels South Texas. Meals are delivered once a week on Wednesdays from about 11 a.m. to noon. If you are interested in volunteering you can go to mowstx.org or email volunteer@ mowstx.org.
