Czech President to visit LaGrange Museum

President Petr Pavel and First Lady Eva Pavlová of the Czech Republic (Czechia) will make a public appearance in La Grange on their historic visit to Texas. The President and First Lady will visit the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center on Saturday, July 13. The public is invited to the Welcoming Ceremony outside, in front of the TCHCC Main Building from 9-11 a.m. to hear the president's remarks and his show of dedication to the people of the Texas Czech community. The group will then receive a private tour of the TCHCC complex.

This historic visit will be the first to La Grange from a president of the Czech Republic and the first of any head of state since President Lyndon Johnson in 1969.

CRH Holding Blood Drive

Cuero Regional Hospital will be hosting a blood drive for the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center in the Education Classroom on Thursday, July 18th, from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm. Anyone who is 16 years old weighing 120 pounds (with parental consent form), or at least 17 years old weighing 110 pounds, and in good general health can donate blood. Donors must present photo ID, last four digits of their social security number and their birth date. Please visit SouthTexasBlood.org to make an appointment. Walk-Ins are Welcome! Bade-Reinhardt Reunion

The reunion will be held July 20 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 11220 FM 237, in Meyersville. The building opens at 10 a.m. with a covered dish luncheon at noon. Please bring a meat dish and a side dish or dessert. All paper goods furnished. Bring updates of your family since July 2023. A short meeting will follow lunch. CISD Worker/ Substitute Training The Cuero ISD will hold its substitute training on Tuesday, July 23, at 9 a.m. in the Cuero ISD Administration Office located at 960 East Broadway, Cuero. This training will provide individuals wishing to work in the classroom, cafeteria, or driving a bus with information necessary for success.

Bingo, Burgers & Beer To encourage networking for Chamber members this summer, The Cuero Chamber of Commerce is hosting a mixer at Cuero Country Club on Wednesday, July 24 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with the theme “Bingo, Burgers & Beer.” Tickets for Cuero Chamber members are $25 each and non-members may attend with a $30 ticket.

Southern Solution Band

The Southern Solution Band will be playing at Gruenau Hall on July 27th.

Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. with the music and dancing from 7:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. Adults are $10, and kids 12 and under are free.

Casino Night

On Friday, Aug. 2, The Venue will be transformed into a Vegas-style casino as the Cuero Chamber hosts its Casino Night fundraiser (with a Kentucky Derby theme) from 7 p.m. until midnight. This event aims to raise funds for scholarships and future building renovations. From 7 - 9:30 p.m., attendees will enjoy a Vegas-style casino games, including Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, Texas Hold’em and more. Then, Stephanie Ross and the Southern Drive Band will take the stage and play until midnight. Ethosha Lynn Back to School Bash

The Tri-City Empowerment Council is sponsoring the “Ethosha Lynn Back to School Bash” on Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Cuero City Park Pavilion. With registration starting at 9 a.m, any student who needs a backpack for the upcoming school year can receive one free of charge. World Series of Cuero Texas Hold’em

The World Series of Cuero will be held Aug. 3 at The Venue on Church Street with check-in and registration beginning at 10:30 a.m. The World Series of Cuero player registration fee of $100, which includes $10,000 in chips for the main event, lunch, refreshments and spirits. Dohmann Family Reunion

The Werner F. Dohmann Family Reunion will be held on August 4 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Weesatche Community Center. Shoppers Poker Run The Shoppers Poker Run returns on Saturday, Aug. 3, with registration at 11a.m. and shopping until 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $75 each and include a delicious lunch and shopping galore in Cuero.

Each ticket holder will receive a punch card and map to participating shops. They will receive a hole punch on their card for every $20 spent. Once shopping wraps at 3:30 p.m., players will return to The Venue by 4 p.m. to receive a poker card for each hole punch received, with five hole punches equalling a poker hand. The top 10 hands will play the final table and the top 10 winners will receive a payout.

Saturday Night Fever – Babe and Bubba Bingo SNYPD (Spay Neuter Your Pet DeWitt) hosts its Babe and Bubba Bingo with a Saturday Night Fever theme on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 5-11 p.m. at the Anne Friar Thomas Homemaking Building, 501 Martin Luther King Drive, Cuero. Grace Episcopal School is the newest preschool in Cuero opening in August 2024. Personal tours are being offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 1-4:00 pm. Cuero VFW Bingo

Cuero VFW Post 3972 has resumed weekly games of Bingo at the Post Home.

1984 & 1985 Class Reunion

Calling all Class of 1984 and 1985 Cuero High School Gobblers. The 39th and 40th Reunion is Oct 11, 2024 and Oct 12, 2024.

Child Find Evaluations School districts must ensure that a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) is provided for children who are identified as needing special education and related services.

Child Find is a process to identify, locate, and evaluate individuals from birth to 21 years of age who may need special education and related services. Evaluations for Cuero, Meyersville, Nursery and Westhoff ISD’s are available through Child Find.

Child Screening Services

Residents of Yorktown, are you aware of a child with problems walking, seeing, moving or thinking? Free screening services are available for children from birth through five years of age. Call 361-564-2252 ext. 3002 for an appointment. Screening will be held at Yorktown Elementary School.

Volunteers are needed to help deliver meals in the central DeWitt County area for Meals on Wheels South Texas. Meals are delivered once a week on Wednesdays from about 11 a.m. to noon. If you are interested in volunteering you can go to mowstx.org or email volunteer@ mowstx.org.
