Joyce Abbegail Afflerbach entered into Heaven and the arms of her Lord and Savior on September 26, 2004 at the age of 101 years, 8 months and 20 days. Joyce was born January 6, 1923 in Bay Town when her father was a section foreman for Southern Pacific. Joyce was raised in Smiley from 1932 until she married Victor L. Afflerbach in 1940. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor L. Afflerbach and parents, Charles A. Bartlett and Annie (Sauer) Bartlett; brother, Lionel Bartlett; sister, Naomi Barnett and great granddaughter Madison Wilson.
She is survived by her sons, Ronald V. Afflerbach (Candy) of Westhoff and Gerald K. Afflerbach (Kaye) of Granbury; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and twenty-two great-great-grandchildren.
Joyce was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Westhoff.
The visitation was held at Freund Funeral Home from 11:00AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday, October 3, 2024. Funeral services were at St. John Lutheran Church, Westhoff at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 3, 2024. Interment followed at Westhoff Cemetery. There was a fellowship and celebration of Joyce's life at the Church parish hall after the graveside service.
