The Wildcats will have their first away district game on Friday, Oct. 18 in Charlotte against the Trojans. Charlotte had a preseason record of 1-4, accumulating a victory against Compass Rose Legacy (540) after falling to SAC (30-16), Woodsboro (34-0), Centerpoint (42-6), and St. Anthony (33-14).
In district this past week they forfeited their game against the Shiner Comanches.
The Trojans heavily rely on their junior class. Two juniors, Nicholas Haster and Anthony Sancez are tied in tackles, averaging 7.7 per game. Haster is also the leading rusher averaging 12.3 yards per game. Another junior, Julian Cruz averages 12.0 receiving yards per game and plays safety on defense. The Trojans have a freshman quarterback at the helm of their offense. Lamar Rodriguez has rushed for two touchdowns.
The series between the Wildcats and Trojans has shown Yorktown to be the favorite as they have been victorious four times while only falling short twice in the 70’s. The most recent match up occurred in 2020 and ended in the largest win in the series for the Wildcats, 49-15.
The Wildcats are 5-1 overall and their total stats include 30 catches out of 57 attempts for a total 287 passing yards, and 259 carries for 1997 rushing yards.
