The Downtown Farmer’s Market on main in Cuero, October 26, 9-1 p.m. $10 donation for Pet Adoption of Cuero at 10 a.m., judging at noon. Kid’s registration $5 or bag of pet food: two categories 2-8 years and 9-12 years. Trophies include Best Rescue Pet, Best Family/ Fur Baby Group, Most Unusual, Best Small Dog, Best Large Dog.

43rd Annual Matejek Reunion

The 43rd annual Matejek Family Reunion will be held on October 27th, 2024 at the DeWitt County Veterans Center 901 TX 72 E Yorktown Texas 78164. Registration will begin at 10:30. St. Michael's Catholic School Fall Festival

Scholarship Essay Deadline

Cuero VFW sponsored essay contests of Patriot’s Pen: My Voice in American Democracy and Voice of Democracy: Is America Today Our Forefathers’ Vision? Trunk-or-Treat

First United Methodist Church and many of the area churches will once again host Trunk-or-Treat around the courthouse. This has been a tradition for more than 20 years. If you would like to help with this event, we would love for you to join us. Dress up your car, yourself (not scary please), bring lots of candy and join the fun. Naming of Historic Tree

The Cuero Tree Board will hold a ceremony naming the 13th Tree in the Street as a part of the unique campaign to name all the historic trees in the streets of Cuero. The 13th tree is located at 500 W. South Railroad Street and will be named in honor of the Gossett family. Willy Wonka JR

The Boys & Girls Club of Cuero, in collaboration with EXPRESS, is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated production of Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka JR. Families are invited to the enchanting experience on November 2nd and November 3rd, 2024, at the Cuero ISD Performing Arts Center, 920 E Broadway St, Cuero. The Lindenau Rifle Club 

The Lindenau Rifle Club’s Annual Stew to be held Saturday, November 2nd, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost of the stew is $12.00 per quart and is drive through only. This is also the last day to purchase your Gun Raffle Tickets. The drawing will be November 2nd, 2024 at 1 p.m., outside the dance hall. You may purchase your Gun Raffle Tickets at the Co-op, Anders Auto, or from any Lindenau Rifle Club member or at the dance hall on November 2nd, till 1 p.m.

The Travelers Protection Association (TPA)

The TPA will have its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at 8:30 A.M. at Bahnhof Cafe 213 W. Main. All members and prospects are invited to attend and enjoy breakfast with the group.

“Arsenic and Old Lace”

The Shiner Gaslight Theatre (207 East 7th St) presents “Arsenic and Old Lace,' the fall production on Fri., Sat., and Sun., November 8, 9, 10,15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24. A Wednesday performance is Nov. 13. All are in the evening except for Sunday matinees. The comedy involves Mortimer Brewster, who has discovered that his two spinster aunts have been poisoning lonely old men for years. A meal is served before the play. Veteran’s Day Chicken BBQ

The American Legion Dinter Post 3 is hosting a Veteran’s Day Chicken BBQ on Saturday, Nov. 9. The proceeds will go to help area veterans in need and for Post home improvements. The BBQ will be held at the American Legion Hall, 310 S. Esplanade with chicken pickup times from 10:30-12:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the DeWitt County Coop and Ander’s Auto Supply in Downtown Cuero. We are asking for $15 donation for each BBQ chicken.

EMS 35 Year Celebration

Yorktown EMS is proud to be celebrating 35 years of serving our community and surrounding areas. To celebrate this honor, plans are underway for a Family Fun Filled Day on Saturday, November 9, starting at 4 p.m. at Yorktown Community Hall. Activities of the day include a bounce house for the kids, putt putt golf, a cornhole tournament, silent auction, and BBQ plates. Then DANCE the night away with Chris Gonzales and The Rekkers from 7-11 p.m. Yorktown EMS is a non-profit organization and without the support of our community this would not be possible. Annual Turkey Shoot 

The Cuero Rotary Club is excited to announce its annual Turkey Shoot, taking place on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the Cuero Sportsman Club, located at 902 E. Bailey St., Cuero, TX. This community event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with registration beginning at 9:00 a.m. Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their marksmanship in 16 thrilling shooting rounds, competing for a variety of prizes and cash rewards. Proceeds from the event will go towards supporting local organizations and providing scholarships to deserving graduates of Cuero High School. Senior Coffee Hour & Social

Cuero VFW Post 3972 has resumed weekly games of Bingo at the Post Home.

Games will begin at 7:30 p.m. Proceeds of these games benefit local charities, youth, and veterans in need. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

DeWitt County Shutterbugs

Do you love photography?

Do you want to learn more, be inspired, challenged? Do you want to get together with other creative photographers? If so, please join us at a Shutterbugs meeting. Meetings are held on every third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Cuero, 408 N. Gonzales Street. Please enter through the front door under the awning. Child Find Evaluations 

School districts must ensure that a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) is provided for children who are identified as needing special education and related services. Child Find is a process to identify, locate, and evaluate individuals from birth to 21 years of age who may need special education and related services. Evaluations for Cuero, Meyersville, Nursery and Westhoff ISD’s are available through Child Find. Early childhood intervention programs serve children with developmental delays and their families.

Eligibility is determined through a team assessment by program staff. Please call Jan Clink scales at 361-275-1900 extension 142, to schedule an appointment.
