GVEC customers round up for Cuero Police

Greetings all, Many thank you’s are in order in this message: Bushes Chicken, Brookshire Brothers, HEB, Walmart, Devon, Cuero Lube and Tire all participated in the success of both Pancake breakfasts, a total of 400 servings were distributed. I would also like to acknowledge GVEC customers for a generous donation for Cuero Police Department radios. I was informed that GVEC customers are given an option to round up to the nearest dollar and support local communities; thank you very much.

Christmas in the Park scenes are going up at the City Park. Gor your information, City crews, volunteers and the Community work squad from the Stevenson Unit all contribute in the installation and take down of the scenes. The City of Cuero is reimbursed for City crew hours and the electricity used to power the scenes by donations collected every night at Santa’s House. Donations also pay for security by the Cuero Police department, mint candy for pass out and purchasing of future scenes. Santa’s House is staffed every night by community volunteers; donations keep the event free to the public year after year. This year the first-year holiday themed music will be played on 22 strategically placed all-weather, wireless speakers throughout the park. The speaker system will also be used throughout the year for events such as July Fourth (patriotic music), BBQ competitions, golf tournaments and Turkeyfest (public service announcements).

The Cuero Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (CCPAAA) is currently actively recruiting for the 3rd CCPAAA course set to begin in mid-January 2025. I attended a Local Emergency Planning Committee (LECP) meeting on Thursday October 24, a briefing was given by the Insurance Services Office (ISO), these folks evaluate and grade local Fire and Volunteer Fire Departments, which gives a department a Public Protection Classification (PPC), insurance companies use the PPC rating to underwrite local insurance rates on property assets, simply put insurance companies want to know how fast and how much water is available to put out a fire, Cuero should be proud of the local Fire and Volunteer Fire departments, who have an above average rating. Please consider joining the Volunteer Fire department to continue above average PPC ratings and sustaining lower insurance rates for all. More to follow!!
