DeWitt County Judge Daryl Fowler was honored on October 21 for his completion of a voluntary advanced course of study on county government titled Commissioners Court Advanced Curriculum (CCAC).
Fowler received a Certificate of Achievement from the County Judges and Commissioners Association of Texas (CJCAT), sponsor of the advanced curriculum program, at the CJCAT Annual Conference conducted October 21-24 in Hays County.
The CCAC is a comprehensive course of study totaling 64 hours of continuing education and includes subject matter related to the constitutional and statutory duties of other local officeholders, as well as, lawmaking, budgeting, subdivision regulations, economic development, emergency management, and cyber security.
Through the designation as a Certified County Commissioners Court Member, Judge Fowler demonstrates his commitment to the principles of good government and public service to the citizens of DeWitt County.
In responding to the designation Judge Fowler stated he has been implementing the CCAC training on a daily basis for the last thirteen years as county judge, but adds “You just cannot rest on what you have experienced in the past. Legislation and other outside influences affect county government on a daily basis, so continuing education is vital to county government officials.” The CJCAT, a statewide organization with more than 1,200 active members, promotes the interests of county government and provides the opportunity for statutorily required continuing education in cooperation with the V. G. Young School of County Government, an arm of the Texas AgriLife Extension Service.
