April 19, 1947 — October 30, 2024 Richard Louis Perez, affectionately known as 'Dickie,' passed away in San Antonio on October 30, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on April 19, 1947, in Cuero, Richard lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a passion helping others.

Richard Louis Perez, affectionately known as 'Dickie,' passed away in San Antonio on October 30, 2024, at the age of 77.

Born on April 19, 1947, in Cuero, Richard lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a passion helping others.

Richard was a very generous man, always willing to give the shirt off his back to those in need.

His remarkable sense of humor brought joy to everyone around him. He was admired not just for his kindness but also for his resilience; despite battling different medical issues, he remained a beacon of strength, determination, and courage, often finding the silver lining in challenging situations.

His military service during the Vietnam War earned him several honorary medals, a testament to his dedication and bravery. Richard loved people and deeply appreciated human connections.

Richard enjoyed playing dominoes and cards, always bringing a competitive spirit and determination to his endeavors. He cherished memories of road trips to Cuero, and heartfelt conversations with loved ones.

Richard leaves behind his beloved wife, Janie Perez, daughter, Laura Perez, son, Richard Perez Jr., grandson, Anthony Settles, granddaughter, Cierra Perez, great grandsons, Nikolai Settles, Jovani Ford and great granddaughter, Meadow Settles, who will always remember him as the best husband, father, and Papo he could be, instilling values of generosity and humor in their lives.

He is reunited in rest with parents Mateo and Elvira Perez, his son, Ryan Perez, as well as his siblings David Perez, Annie Hicks, And Stephen Perez, who shared in the laughter and warmth of a life welllived.

A memorial service will be held in Richard’s honor on November 9, 2024, at Jerusalem Baptist Church located at 215 W. Courthouse St, Cuero, Tx. 77594, beginning at 12 noon.

Later: Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, located at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, TX 78209.

Richard Louis Perez's legacy of generosity, laughter, and love will continue to inspire all those who knew him. His memory will forever be cherished by his family and friends.
