Longtime healthcare provider Dr. Daniel Dugi M.D. is closing his practice due to a termination of his contracts with the Cuero Medical Clinic and Kenedy Family Practice.
In a letter to his patients, published as a display ad in this edition, Dugi states his contracts were terminated “without cause” by Cuero Regional Hospital CEO Lynn Falcone on October 1, giving him 60 days notice. His practice will officially close on Nov. 29.
Falcone stated that the phrase “without cause” that Dugi mentions in his letter is specific contract language. “ I am not at liberty to discuss anything beyond that,” she said in an email response.
Dugi described his 41-year practice in Cuero and availability to his patients via cell phone and when necessary, house calls. He said his patients’ records will be in the care of Cuero Medical Clinic when they find a new doctor.
Dugi praised his healthcare colleagues and expressed gratitude to his patients for trusting him with their healthcare. He also announced that he is taking a position with the DeTar Family Medical Residency Program in Victoria.
