Home game against Shiner this Friday

Last chance to watch the 2024 Wildcat football team at home will be on Friday, Nov 8. Yorktown will face Shiner in their final district game. The Comanches started the season with a three game losing streak, falling to Hallettsville, Rice Consolidated, and Poth before winning six consecutive games. Currently, they are 4-0 in district play having defeated Louise in a shutout win last week, 6v Shiner does not post stats to MaxPreps so it is difficult to have current statistical information to report on individual players however the team is ranked 11 in 2A Division II standings. They are returning seven offensive and eight defensive starters from last year's squad that advanced to 2A Division I Area Finalist. Dave Campbell’s Football Magazine predicted the Comanches as the frontrunner in District 15 2A DII, taking advantage of a sea- soned team and having dropped down a division from previously. Standout for the Comanches is Preseason Defensive MVP, linebacker Kyle Adamek.

Shiner leads the head to head series with Yorktown, 30-12. The Wildcats last defeated the Comanches in 1996 with a score of 35-28.

Yorktown will look to bounce back from last week's loss to Falls City, 48-7. The seniors Richard Flores, Hagen Newman, Cameron Willis, Trent Foerster, Ethan Fitts, Justin Guerrero, Rylan Rau, Xavier Naranjo and Travis Buesing will look to leave a lasting impression on the wildcat field as they play their last game in front of their home crowd.

The Wildcat’s will utilize their offensive lineman Guerrero, Foerster, Rau, Colton Rogers and Gunnar Hughes to create creases for Brody Metting and McKenze Yanta to exploit and garner rushing yards for the Wildcats offense. Metting and Yanta are the teams one two punch for rushing yards, with Metting leading the way. Matthew Olguin tops the leaderboard for the Wildcats for receiving yards. Shiner has only allowed 11 points per game this year so the Wildcat offense will be tested. Defensive standouts Adam Serbin, Rau, and Flores will look to contain the Shiner Comanches.

Kickoff is set for 7:00 at Wildcat Stadium.
