Yorktown held its Monthly meeting on Monday, October 28, at 6 pm at the Yorktown City Hall.
The Council approved the minutes from the September 30th meeting and the payment of City bills.
Mayor Bill Baker reported that the Massey Well was back in rotation. It has been tested 5-6 times.
Smart water meters have been installed. It was said at the meeting that numbers have increased during the transition to smart water meters. There will be additional costs associated with the transition. Several attempts were made to seek details regarding the Massey Well and smart water meters implementation.
The council discussed the approval of a Tele- communications License Agreement between the City of Yorktown and Air Canopy Internet Service, Inc. dba Rise Broadband relating to the installation, operation, and maintenance of fiber optic cable and associated facilities within the City’s public rightof- way and related rights and obligations of the parties. Daniel Garza, field marketing manager, was among the Rise representatives at the meeting. The matter was tabled for further discussion.
The Council approved the Proclamation of Appreciation for the 35th Anniversary of the Yorktown Emergency Medical Services. The celebration event will be held at 4 pm on November 9th at Yorktown Community Hall, 60 Community Hall Road, Yorktown, Texas. The Council was excited about the purchase of Hydro Vac from the City of Cuero which will be delivered next week.
Western Day Celebration was successful, and attendance was good. There were no arrests, although some were escorted off the grounds. Mayor Bill Baker expressed his appreciation to the Western Day Board, law enforcement, and all of the volunteers.
Yorktown City Council approved a new city logo. Attempts were made to seek details regarding the reason for changing the logo and the history of the old logo.
